Job Summary
Responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. Oversees development and implementation of support materials and services for chapters in the area of marketing, communications and public relations. Directs the efforts of the marketing, communications and public relations staff and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine.

Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Marketing, communications and public relations.
  2. Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
    1. a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications; and, all the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, client acquisition and so forth.
  3. Ensure articulation of the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.
  4. Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine’s publications.
  5. Coordinate media interest in the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
  6. Act as the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine’s representative with the media.
  7. Coordinate the appearance of all the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
  8. Develop, coordinate and oversee programs, technical assistance and resource materials to assist chapters in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities.
  9. Provide counsel to chapters on marketing, communications and public relations.
  10. Ensure that the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine regularly conducts relevant market research and coordinate and oversee this activity. Monitor trends.
  11. Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.

Planning and Budgeting

  1. Responsible for the achievement of marketing/communications/public relations mission, goals and financial objectives. Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to the President and owners.
  2. Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing/communications/ public relations program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
  3. Recommend short- and long-term Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine’s goals and objectives to the President and owners.
  4. Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing/communications/public relations function.
  5. Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, related to integrative and functional medicine and use this information to help the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine operate with initiative and innovation.

Organizational strategy

  1. Work with practitioners and staff members to: develop and maintain a strategic perspective — based on marketplace and patients’ needs and satisfaction and decision-making; and, ensure the overall health and vitality of the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine.
  2. Help make sure that the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine’s philosophy, mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the organization.
  3. Help formulate, administer or communicate policies to ensure the integrity of the the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine.
  4. Act as an internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to institutional priorities.

Managing

  1. Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel.
  2. Recruit, train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel.
  3. Ensure effective management within the marketing, communications and public relations function, with provision for succession.
  4. Design, support and oversee cross-functional teams throughout the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine.
  5. Effectively enable staff so they can take action on behalf of the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine by:
    1. transmitting the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine’s values, vision and direction
    2. engaging people in the meaning of the Kellman Center for Integrative and Functional Medicine;
    3. respecting and using the skills, expertise, experience and insights of people;
    4. providing direction and resources, removing barriers and helping develop people’s skills; articulating expectations and clarifying roles and relationships;
    5. communicating which includes helping people transform information into knowledge and learning;
    6. encouraging people to question organizational assumptions and ask strategic questions; ensuring quality decision-making;
    7. anticipating conflicts and facilitating resolution;
    8. coaching people to success.

Qualifications Required

  1. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.
  2. Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.
  3. Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel.
  4. Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
  5. Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
  6. Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
  7. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  8. Strong oral and written communications skills.
  9. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

Requirements of the role

  1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the holistic, wellness, integrative and functional medicine field.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or journalism preferred.
  3. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable.
  4. Experience working in healthcare with an integrative approach is preferred.
  5. Proven track record of success in senior marketing roles.
  6. Confident, driven and dynamic leader.
