Marilynn Karas, NP, IBCLC

Integrative Nurse Practitioner

Marilynn Karas, NP, IBCLC is an Integrative Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women’s Health, uro-gynecology and infertility. After completing her undergraduate degree at University of Wisconsin, Madison she worked as a social worker in a battered women’s shelter in Chicago and enjoyed helping people but wanted a deeper way to care for people. After careful searching, she chose nursing as a way to combine science and social work and came to NYC to study at Columbia University for her graduate work in Nursing.

Marilynn spent over a decade as an NP specializing in urogynocology serving the under-served community at Bellevue Medical Center in New York City. After years of watching her patients continue to suffer with chronic symptoms and being failed by conventional approaches she began to explore alternative therapies and integrative medicine. Marilynn completed a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona with the renown integrative medicine pioneer Andrew Weil MD and completely altered her patient care approach that led to significant symptom relief and improvement in her patients well-being. She was so energized by this holistic, integrative and functional style of medicine that she decided to devote herself full-time to integrative medicine.

When not working, reading and learning, she’s at home in Brooklyn her husband and their three sons.
